Umut received “The Science Award 2020” given by Ankara University, Dean Office of Faculty of Agriculture due to his contributions into Insect Molecular Biology. Umut received his award from the Vice-President of Ankara University, Prof. Dr. Abdülkadir Gürer in the 174. Celebration of Agricultural Education Ceremony. The Dean of Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ergin Dursun, previous president of Ankara University Prof. Dr. Günal Akbay, and previous president of TOBB-ETÜ University Prof. Dr. Tahsin Kesici also attended the award ceremony.
