The lipid symposium “From fat to fact: Recent insight into insect lipid metabolism” organized by Umut and Laura Musselman (Binghamton University, State University of New York, USA) was succesfully completed at the Annual Meeting of the Entomological Society of America, St. Louis, on Nov 20. In the symposium, 14 keynote speakers, Laura Palanker Musselman (Binghamton University, State University of New York, USA), Michael A. Welte (University of Rochester, USA), Michael Lehmann (University of Arkansas, USA), Robert Wessells (Wayne State University, USA), Jason Tennessen (University of Indiana USA), Laura Reed (University of Alabama, USA), Matthew Thimgan (Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA), Umut Toprak (Ankara University, Turkey), George D. Yocum (Red River Agricultural Research Center, Fargo, USA), Daniel A. Hahn (University of Florida, USA), David Majerowicz (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Ronald Kühnlein, (University of Graz, Austria) and Katia C. Gondim (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) gave key note talks. The symposium was a great success and covered the most recent insights on insect lipid metabolism, from cellular lipid biochemistry to physiology and behavior. For the online program, please visit:
