On May 29, 2025, our MSc student, Roberto Luis Cañas Balladares, successfully presented his graduate seminar titled “The Role of Neuropeptides in Coleoptera” at the Department of Plant Protection, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Ankara University.
In his presentation, Roberto provided an in-depth overview of the functional diversity and physiological significance of neuropeptides in Coleoptera—the most species-rich order within the class Insecta. He skillfully covered topics such as the roles of neuropeptides in feeding behavior, reproduction, development, stress response, and water balance regulation, emphasizing their molecular mechanisms and relevance to pest control strategies.
Roberto’s command of the subject matter and his ability to clearly explain complex concepts were highly appreciated by the audience. His structured and confident delivery, especially in navigating the diversity of neuropeptide systems within Coleoptera, drew praise from both faculty and students.
🎓 The seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Güray Ferizli (Head of Department), Prof. Dr. Selma Ülgentürk, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre İncek, members of the MOLEN research group, and numerous undergraduate and graduate students from the department.
We sincerely congratulate Roberto on this successful seminar and wish him continued success in his academic journey!
