The Molecular Entomology Laboratory (MOLEN) is pleased to welcome Seyedeh Reyhaneh Golzan as a Visiting Scholar for a three-month research stay, which began on December 15, 2025.

Reyhaneh holds an MSc degree in Entomology from the University of Tehran, Iran. Her master’s research focused on the comparative virulence of the entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae against larvae of Plodia interpunctella (Indian meal moth), with particular emphasis on cuticle-degrading enzymes such as chitinases, proteases, and lipases.

Her primary research interests include entomopathogenic fungi, insect–pathogen interactions, insect immunity, and biological control strategies for sustainable agriculture. During her stay at MOLEN, Reyhaneh will contribute to ongoing projects on fungal-based biocontrol agents and their molecular and physiological interactions with insect hosts.

Reyhaneh’s recent scientific work bridges fundamental mechanisms and applied pest management. Her studies include research demonstrating that endophytic Metarhizium anisopliae isolates can suppress populations of the two-spotted spider mite while simultaneously promoting tomato plant growth (Crop Protection, 2025), as well as earlier work linking cuticle-degrading enzyme activity to fungal virulence (Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology, 2023).

We are delighted to host Reyhaneh at MOLEN and look forward to the scientific contributions and collaborative opportunities arising from her visit.
