EU Horizon 2020 PYRAGRAF Project Consortium Visited MOLEN!

News

Within the scope of the EU Horizon 2020-funded PYRAGRAF project, Ankara hosted the 5th consortium meeting, bringing together more than 20 partners from Portugal, Germany, Türkiye, Sweden, Poland, and other participating countries.

As part of the official program, the consortium members conducted a technical visit to Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture and the Molecular Entomology Research Laboratory (MOLEN), where they had the opportunity to closely examine ongoing research activities, laboratory infrastructure, and collaborative innovation opportunities.

PYRAGRAF aims to develop a mobile, integrated pyrolysis system capable of converting agricultural and forestry residues into value-added products such as biochar, wood vinegar, and bio-oil. By combining thermochemical processes with renewable energy approaches, the project targets sustainable waste valorization and circular bioeconomy solutions for agriculture and forestry sectors.

Technical Tour and Laboratory Demonstrations at MOLEN

During the visit, participants toured MOLEN’s facilities and were introduced to the laboratory’s expertise in molecular entomology, insect physiology, biochemistry, RNAi-based pest control, and next-generation biopesticide technologies.

Live demonstrations and discussions were held around analytical equipment, experimental platforms, and ongoing research projects. The visit provided an interactive environment where researchers exchanged technical insights on sustainable agriculture, biomass utilization, and innovative plant protection strategies.

The meeting fostered interdisciplinary dialogue between biomass conversion technologies and biological pest management approaches, highlighting the complementary nature of engineering and life sciences in addressing global agricultural challenges.
