Betül gave her M.Sc. seminar on the development of RNA interference as a tool for functional genomics and pest control in hemipterans. The topic is very strategic as RNAi has great potential in functional genomics and pest control; however, it is not straightforward when it comes to insects with piercing-sucking mouthparts, such as aphids, leafhoppers, and stink bugs. Betül’s seminar was very informative and will shed light on the development of dsRNA based insecticides in particular against aphids, which is also a current project topic in Molen! Congratulations Betül!
