We are excited to share our recent discovery on the role of perilipin proteins in the lipid metabolism of Colorado potato beetle. In a recent study published in Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, we demonstrated the involvement of a major lipid droplet protein, perilipin 2, also known as Lipid Storage Droplet 2 (LSD2) in lipid accumulation in a non-Drosophila model the first time. Silencing LSD2 in L. decemlineata led to a significant decrease in lipid levels both confirmed by total lipid merasurements as well as microscopic investigation.
