We have only a month left for the XII European Congress of Entomology (ECE 2023), which will be held in Heraklion, Crete, Greece on 16-20 October 2023! Molen PI, Dr. Umut Toprak, as well as Molen students Solmaz Ghanbari, Betül Yılmaz, Pınar Öztekin and İdil Osan will be making oral presentations in the Physiology & Biochemistry Sessions of the event. Dr. Toprak will be delivering a keynote talk “Silencing FMRFamide-like peptide (FLP) and short neuropeptide F (sNPF) leads to alter lipid metabolism in Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)” in the event. Solmaz’s talk “Am I overweight?” New insights into Adipokinetic hormone (AKH) pathway in Colorado potato beetle Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)”, and Pınar’s talk “Comparative efficacy of a recombinant and chemically-synthesized spider toxin peptide against Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)” will be in the peptide session of the event. İdil’s talk “Characterization of a phospholipase A(1)-like protein and its potential role in the lipid metabolism of Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)” and Betül’s talk “New target Sites in the control of Myzus persicae (Hemiptera: Aphididae) by RNAi: Facilitated glucose transporter member 1-Like (FTG1) and protein transport protein (Sec23A)” will be under the metabolism session.
The congress is organized by the Hellenic Entomological Society. The congress program will include invited lectures from international experts, numerous symposia, oral and poster sessions, and satellite seminars. The historic, as well as magnificent island of Crete sets the ideal scenery for ECE 2023. The congress will be hosted in the Cultural and Conference Center of Heraklion, a contemporary venue of international standards, offering high level services in an inspiring environment. Dr. Toprak is a member of the organization committee and coordinates sessions on insect physiology and biochemistry in ECE 2023.
