The Molen PI, Dr. Umut Toprak, delivered two talks at the “XXVII International Congress of Entomology (ICE2024)” in Kyoto, Japan, August 25-30, 2024. The congress was held at the Kyoto International Conference Center. Umut first spoke on ” Resistance to Complex III Inhibitor Acaricides in Tetranychus urticae” at the symposium “Molecular determinants driving pesticide resistance and selectivity in invertebrates” organized by Ralf Nauen (Bayer AG, Crop Science Division), Gaelle Le Goff (INRAE), and Thomas Van Leeuwen (Ghent University). Umut’s second talk ” Neuroendocrinal control of lipid metabolism in Colorado potato beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata” was part of the symposium “The multi-functionality of insect fat: Its power and constraints” organized by Bertanne Visser (Université de Liège), and Cécile Le Lann (University of Rennes). The meeting and the venue were great, while the ancient city of Kyoto was with full of suprises as you see in one of the pics with traditional Japanase dressing of Umut!
