One of the biggest entomological events worldwide, XII European Congress of Entomology (ECE 2023) has been successfully completed in Heraklion, Crete, Greece on 16-20 October 2023! The congress was organized by the Hellenic Entomological Society and chaired by Professors Emmanouil Roditakis and Stefanos Andreadis. Umut was also a member of the organization committee and coordinated the three sessions on insect physiology and biochemistry during the conference. The sessions focused on “Recent Insights into Peptide Research in Insects”, “Unique Physiological Adaptations in Insect Development and Survival” and “From Digestion Towards Metabolism & Immunity”. Umut also delivered a keynote talk ” Silencing FMRFamide-like peptide (FLP) and short neuropeptide F (sNPF) leads to alter lipid metabolism in Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)”, as well as moderated the session on “From Digestion Towards Metabolism & Immunity”, which hosted Professor Gianluca Tettamanti (University of Insubria & University of Napoli “Federico II”, Italy) as the keynote speaker with a talk on “Current knowledge and future perspectives on the immune system of black soldier fly”.
