The 8th International Agriculture Congress (8th IAC), chaired by Umut, was held in-the the campus of the College of Agriculture, Ankara University on 26th – 28th October 2022 under the coordination of Ankara University, College of Agriculture and Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM). The congress was initiated with the opening ceremony which included talks by Umut as the chair of the congress, Dean Hasan Hüseyin Atar (College of Agriculture), Dr. Metin Türker, Director General to the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM), Dr. Durali KOÇAK – General Manager to the General Directorate of Food and Control and President Necdet Ünüvar (Ankara University). The theme of the congress is “sustainable agriculture and food”, and two opening lectures were given in accordance with the theme of the congress. The Opening Lecture I “Reshaping sustainable agriculture in response to the devastating invasive pest Drosophila suzukii” was given by Dr. Christelle Guédot (University of Wisconsin Madison, USA) and moderated by Umut, while the Opening Lecture II “The landscape approach and the role of agriculture in delivering multiple environmental and socioeconomic benefits in production landscapes” was given by Dr. Anna Tengberg (Lund University, Sweden) and moderated by Dr. Nurdan Tuna Güneş. Umut spesifically moderated the entomology session including talks by Ahmet Hatipoğlu (Ege University), Kıymet Abanos (Hektaş T.A.Ş.), Halil Köstekli (UPL), Emin Özer (Syngenta), Enver Durmuşoğlu (ZİMİD) and Enes Türk (Rebioca Biotech). In total 47 presentations were given throughout 6 major sessions. The congress is completed with the gala dinner in the Ankara Castle. Agricongresss was supported by Hektaş, UPL, FMC, Syngenta, Doğal Kimya and Agrobest.
