Another successful meeting of the Entomological Society of America (ESA), Entomology 2024, has come to a close, leaving behind unforgettable memories! The event took place in Phoenix, Arizona, from November 10-13, and it was a fantastic opportunity for learning, networking, and sharing the latest research in entomology.
Dr. Umut had a busy and productive agenda at the meeting! He presented a talk on the “Impact of Silencing Trissin Receptor on Diapause and Reproduction in Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)” and co-moderated a session on Physiology, Biochemistry, and Toxicology (PBT) alongside Dr. Joe Hull from the USDA. Dr. Umut also participated in several key business meetings, including the PBT Business Meeting and Networking Event, where he provided an update on the publication policies of the ESA and the overall performance of its journals. Additionally, he attended the Publication Council Meeting and the UW Madison Mixer, organized by Dr. Russ Groves.
Entomology 2024 also provided an excellent opportunity to reconnect with friends, colleagues, and fellow insect enthusiasts. Two of our Molen graduates, Gözde Güney and Doğa Cedden, who are currently pursuing their PhDs at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in Germany, delivered outstanding talks during the event. At the end of the session, Doğa and Gözde posed for a photo with Dr. Umut and our esteemed colleague Dr. David Heckel.
Overall, the meeting was an incredible event filled with inspiring talks, insightful discussions, and the opportunity to connect with fellow entomologists from around the world. Hope to see you in Oregon next year in Entomology 2025!
